Class meets on Wednesdays from 10:30 am to 3:30pm
Day 1: All day 10:00 – 3:30pm. This class is free to those who have purchased a Bernina or a Bernette machine. All levels of machines will learn the basics of threading, needle selection, machine care, and menu navigation. Students will be sewing a variety of seams, buttonholes and zippers using basic the presser feet and tools including with the machines.
Day 2: Morning 10:00 -12:30. Bernette B77, B79 and all the Bernina 4-series, 5-series, 7-series and 8-series machines will benefit the most from this class. The students will learn about their decorative stitching, combining stitches, and the creative consultant feature, as well as the use of the Bernina Stitch Regulator for free motion quilting.
Day 2 Afternoon: 1:15 to 3:30. Machines with the embroidery capability will be begin the basics of machine embroidery. The afternoon session will cover how to edit embroidery designs, hooping, needles, thread, stabilizers, tools and how to download designs on your machine. There will also be a demonstration of the Bernina embroidery software.
Day 3: All Day 10:00 – 3:30. This continues the embroidery class with in-the-hoop applique, pin-point placement, and edge-to-edge quilting.
It is recommended the students have had their machines recently serviced within the last year or have taken it out of the box at least once at home to ensure it is in working order.
Students taking the embroidery sessions will be required to be present on Day 1.
Students need to bring all the presser feet, tools, accessories, and owner’s manual (but not the embroidery module) that were included with their machines on the first day. The machine workbook for their particular model of machine is recommended. Students are encouraged to arrive at the shop by 10am to allow for ample time to set up.
